Who is DTS for? (Can married couples/families attend a school?)DTS is for everyone, from everywhere! Currently our DTS’ are family friendly but not catered towards them, specifically families in need of child care. We desire to be a campus that is open for all and all are welcome. We also acknowledge that we are a campus based in a European city, therefore our accommodation reflects this, and this lifestyle is not for everyone. If you have questions, specific needs or concerns we would be happy to speak with you! Here at YPC, our DTS’ are geared towards young adults, singles and families alike. DTS is for anyone who desires to grow in their personal relationship with God. DTS is for people from all walks of life and all ages. Generally, DTS is a place for people who want to grow, be challenged, and discipled. YWAM is an international, interdenominational mission with a high value placed on the individual, families, hospitality, and reaching all. However, if you want more information on what it looks like to be a family in DTS, please email or call for a more thorough conversation! Families are welcome but our DTS' are currently not catered towards families.

How long are YWAM schools? Our DTS’s & second-level schools are six months long. As a mission, we desire to know God and make Him know. In line with these two values, the first three months, called “lecture phase”, are focused on growing with God, and learning new skills on campus (in Paris) through lectures and community living. The second three months of the school, called “outreach phase”, are focused on making God know by going to other nations and practically applying what we have learned. The lecture phase is 11 weeks; the outreach phase is 12 weeks. Seminars can vary in length, usually between 1-3 weeks.
-
How much does my school cost and what do these fees cover? The costs for each program is listed on their specific webpage, generally our 3 month lecture phase costs 3,000€. These fees cover food (three meals a day), housing and bedding, WiFi, speaker costs and more. Outreach Phase fees vary depending on outreach location and will be confirmed a few weeks into the school. However, it generally costs between 2,700-3,500€. These fees cover transport to and from the outreach location(s), food, accommodation (bedding is not always included), and daily ministry-related costs.
-
How old do I have to be to do a DTS?We accept people who have graduated from highschool (or the equivalent). Generally this is 18 years old, but we are open to those slightly younger. If this is the case, please contact us so we can learn more about your situation. There is no age cap but every school application is considered and prayed over. The age range of our campus is generally 17-30.
-
What will I learn on DTS?The focus of the lecture phase is to know God, His ways, how He works and operates, and taking time to explore the example Jesus set before us. While we learn in a formal environment, we also live together and learn from each other in the context of community. Each of the 11 weeks has a theme or topic such as God’s Nature and Character, Prayer and Worship, Evangelism, Missions, Relationships etc. Our desire is that everyone who does DTS will not just learn about God but fall more in love with who He is and, as a natural overflow of this knowledge, share the gospel with others. We do this on our 12 week outreaches where we put into practice everything we have been learning, we desire to make Him known through word and action!
-
What will my week look like as a student?Your week will be full! You will have formal and informal learning throughout the day, corporate campus events, school time together, practical work times, small groups, and one-on-one processing for each student. You will be processing and applying to your life what you are learning in class as you go through lecture phase. Weekends will generally be free for you to enjoy friends and the city, along with the occasional group outing or ministry event.
-
Is outreach required?Yes - DTS is 6 months long consisting of a lecture phase and outreach. Outreach phase of DTS is REQUIRED to successfully complete. Focused Training, within the UofN complete of outreach is not required, but credit is only given for successfully completed portions. Where outreach is not a UofN requirement for focused training here at YPC we accept students for the full 6 months and ask all students to complete the entire program.

What do I need to bring? We are located in the suburbs of Paris so during your time on campus everyday clothing is great. Bring items and clothing you would expect to use living in a multicultural urban neighborhood. If you are coming for a training school most things you bring, you will also be able to use on outreach. Please remember that we are a city campus with minimal storage and we live in dorm style accommodation so please bring an appropriate amount of things. We live in a major city where anything you may forget or need should be possible to find here! *Please note that we do not have storage space so everything you brought with you will need to go with you on outreach. Please plan accordingly and pack lightly!
-
Is health insurance or immunizations required?Yes - health insurance for the entire length of your stay is required before any visit, and before applying for any visa. In France, there are generally no entry requirements around immunizations, but you can double check with your local embassy website. For outreach, however, we strongly suggest being up to date with travel vaccinations as prescribed by your country of residence and required by your travel insurance. There may be specific requirements based on location this information will be given when outreach locations are announced.

Do I need a visa? If so, what is the process? In general, Yes! For most students and long term staff visas are required, as their stay within the Schengen area exceeds 90 days. We will guide you through the visa application process once you are accepted. Most nationalities are eligible for a 90-day visa-free stay in the Schengen area (this area includes most of Europe) which is helpful for seminar participants and support staff. You can check your eligibility here:https://france-visas.gouv.fr/web/france-visas/ai-je-besoin-d-un-visa

Do I need to speak French? While it is helpful in navigating the city and having conversations with locals, speaking French is not necessary. The primary language spoken on campus is English as we are an international mission and English is our common language. Our campus is located in Aubervilliers, which is a suburb located about a 40-minute metro ride north of central Paris. This is a multicultural area with a culturally diverse population creating a mix of cultures, languages, and traditions that create a unique neighborhood. With this diverse population there are many ministry opportunities for us to reach the nations with the love of Christ. That being said, we use wisdom and caution when navigating our area like walking in groups after dark.
-
How many people are on campus? We have around 45 full time volunteers, and every quarter we have a number of students, guests, and other participants coming through the campus. So on average there are usually around 60-90 people on campus. We're continuing to grow every year!

What if I have food allergies, will I have to buy my own meals? We do our best to serve meals everyone can enjoy, currently our kitchen can only accommodate dairy-free, vegetarian and gluten free. For the allergies we do accommodate, please give us notice at least a week before you arrive. For allergies other than the ones listed above we can not guarantee substitutions, you most likely will need to purchase your own food that can be prepaid in one of our shared kitchen spaces.
-
Can I travel around France and Europe in my free time?If you are a guest, your schedule is free to plan as you want! Paris is a great and central location to visit other destinations around Europe. If you are coming as a student, support staff, or staff, your schedule will be busy during the week. Weekends are generally free, with some scheduled events or work depending on what your role is on campus. There's definitely room for individuals to travel, will just need to discuss the best timing!
